Welcome to Chick and Hen! My passion for food stems from my mom. My first memories were of making fresh bread and cookies in the kitchen, picking vegetables from the garden, and gathering eggs from the chicken
coop with her. My mom has always been cooking farm to table, and making healthy, delicious, homegrown food in an economical and sustainable way.

I started this blog to share my food experiences. My cooking style is very similar to my mom’s. I like creating (relatively) healthy, cheap, fresh eats! This blog is not just about cooking, but also about knowing where ingredients come from, the inspiration for a recipe, cooking seasonally, and being inspired from other people’s recipes. I also have a monstrous sweet tooth, so you’ll see a fair amount of desserts!

My family has had chickens since I was a child, so naming the blog Chick and Hen seemed appropriate. I hope you find these stories and recipes
useful, and can incorporate some of them into your lives!
